Refine
About

Advice, not a verdict.

Most beauty tools online either sell you a score or sell you a shelf. Refine tries to do what a thoughtful friend in the industry would: look properly, say one useful thing about each feature, and point at a single product worth trying.

Why it exists

Skincare and makeup advice is everywhere and almost none of it is about your face. Refine started as an experiment to see whether a vision model, given a careful brief and a short curated product list, could give advice that felt personal without being unkind or medical. It could, so we built the rest around it.

What it will not do

It will not rate your attractiveness, guess your age, comment on your weight or ethnicity, or diagnose a skin condition. Those are not beauty advice and they are not things a photo can responsibly tell you. Anything that looks medical is left out with a suggestion to see a dermatologist.

It will not keep your photo. See the privacy page for what that means in practice.

How it makes money

Product links are Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. The price you pay is unchanged, the advisor does not know which products pay more, and the product list is chosen on reviews and availability, not commission.

Who makes it

Refine is an independent project by a single developer, built in the open and improved from feedback. You can read how the analysis works on the how it works page, or browse the guides for advice by feature.

Try it on your own photo

Refine reads your features from one portrait and suggests a product for each. Nothing is stored.
